A bathtub chair with an armrest is an assistive device for seated transfers in and out of the bathtub during personal hygiene. The chair is placed with part of the seat outside the bathtub and part inside, allowing the user to sit down before moving their legs over the edge of the tub. The padded seat and the L-shaped armrest provide support during the transfer.
Function and use
When in use, the chair is placed according to the assembly instructions and checked to ensure it is stable. The user sits on the outer part of the seat and then moves their legs over the edge of the bathtub while in a seated position. This reduces the need to step over the edge while standing. The armrest can be used for support when sitting down or standing up.
Construction and material
The frame is made of aluminum, and the seat is padded with water-resistant polyurethane. The seat has drainage holes that allow water to run off the surface. The materials and the open design are adapted for use in baths and showers.
Adjustable height
The seat height can be adjusted between 53 and 66 cm. The height from the floor to the top edge of the armrest is 63–79 cm. These measurements refer to different parts of the chair. The height adjustment makes it possible to adapt the placement according to the design of the bathtub, provided that all feet are standing firmly.
Armrest on either side
The L-shaped armrest can be mounted on the right or left side depending on how the bathtub is positioned. The bathtub chair with an armrest can thus be adapted to the side from which the user performs the transfer. Check that the armrest is securely fastened before use.
Non-slip feet
The feet have non-slip pads and a suction function that contributes to a stable placement. Always check that they are in contact with the surface and that the chair does not move before putting weight on it. The maximum specified user weight is 95 kg.
Tool-free assembly
The chair can be assembled without tools. Follow the assembly instructions when putting together the frame, seat, and armrest, and ensure that the height adjustment is locked before use. The completed construction must be stable before anyone sits on it.
Seated hygiene
The bathtub chair with an armrest makes it possible to perform parts of a bath or shower while seated. The padded seating surface provides a soft contact area, while the drainage holes facilitate runoff. The design is intended to provide support during transfers and personal hygiene in a bathtub environment.
