Frequently asked questions help you understand how to choose the right assistive device, what payment options are available, and the policies regarding things like requisitions, complaints, and product testing. The goal is to provide clear information before a purchase and make it easier to compare different options based on your needs.
Choosing the right assistive device
When choosing an assistive device, it is important to consider how and where the product will be used. Think about factors such as the user's mobility, balance, strength, body measurements, home environment, and how often the device will be used. For more significant or complex needs, a professional assessment within the healthcare system is recommended first. VI HP can assist with product information and basic advice prior to a private purchase.
Different types of assistive devices
Assistive devices can cover many different product groups. At VI HP, this includes rollators, wheelchairs, walking aids, shower chairs, toilet seat raisers, orthoses, support products, and other products for daily living and rehabilitation. The frequently asked questions about assistive devices highlight the differences between various types of products and what should be taken into account.
Financing of assistive devices
Can the municipality or region pay for the assistive device? The frequently asked questions about costs for assistive devices do not have a single answer, as financing depends on how the device is obtained. In some cases, an assistive device can be prescribed and loaned out through the region or municipality. In other situations, the user purchases the product themselves. Within Region Stockholm's "Free choice of assistive device" (Fritt val av hjälpmedel), certain products are covered by the option to receive a requisition after an assessment by a prescriber.
Testing the assistive device before purchase
Some assistive devices can be tested in our store in Gothenburg before purchase. Availability depends on the product in question, stock status, and whether the product can be tested with regard to hygiene and safety. Please contact the store in advance if you would like to know if a specific model is available for testing.
Payment methods and warranty
You can pay by card, Swish, or Klarna when these payment options are available for your order. Organizations may also be offered payment by invoice according to VI HP's current terms. The right to file a complaint (reklamationsrätt) and a warranty are not the same thing. As a private individual, under the Swedish Consumer Sales Act, you have the right to file a complaint regarding original defects in a product for three years.
How do I assemble the assistive device?
Many assistive devices are delivered pre-assembled or require only simple assembly. The need for assembly varies between different products. For assistive devices where incorrect assembly could affect safety, it is particularly important to follow the manufacturer's instructions. If you are uncertain about assembly, please contact us for support.
