Rules for selling used assistive devices
Rules for selling used assistive devices to VI HP must be read before submitting the form. We buy and accept used assistive devices from private individuals and estates throughout Sweden.
VI HP only accepts privately owned assistive devices that can be identified, inspected, cleaned, disinfected, and safely reused.
All rules for selling used assistive devices apply regardless of whether you want to sell the product or donate it without compensation.
A submitted form, images, or written pre-approval does not mean that VI HP has committed to buying or accepting the product.
The product must not be delivered or sent to VI HP before you have received a written pre-approval with a case number.
Products that VI HP can assess
These rules for selling used assistive devices primarily apply to hard products with surfaces that can be cleaned and disinfected according to the product's and material's instructions.
VI HP can, among other things, assess:
Walkers Manual wheelchairs without fabric or absorbent material Electric wheelchairs without fabric or absorbent material Mobility scooters without fabric or absorbent material Transport chairs Ramps Walking frames Other hard and cleanable assistive devices Original accessories belonging to an identified main product
The inclusion of a product in the list does not mean that it is automatically approved. Each product is assessed individually based on ownership, identification, condition, function, hygiene, safety, and possibility of continued use.
Products that VI HP does not accept
Rules for selling used assistive devices mean that certain products must always be rejected. VI HP will not accept a product for sale or as a gift if any of the following apply:
The product contains fabric, porous padding, foam, or other absorbent material. The product cannot be cleaned and disinfected sufficiently. The product is prescribed, borrowed, rented, or leased. The product comes from a municipality, region, healthcare provider, or assistive device center. The seller cannot prove their identity or ownership. Brand, model, or other necessary product identification is missing. Barcode, serial number, or other traceable marking is missing or unreadable. The product is not fully functional. The product has rust, cracks, warped frame, play, damaged brakes, or other safety defects. The product is homemade or significantly modified. The product has unknown electrical parts, batteries, or chargers. The product has mold, pests, strong odor, bodily fluids, or other unacceptable contamination. The product is subject to a recall or a sales ban. Necessary safety information is missing.
VI HP makes no exceptions to these requirements if the product is offered at a low price or donated without compensation.
Ownership and borrowed assistive devices
Rules for selling used assistive devices require that you own the product yourself and have full right to sell or donate it. VI HP may request a receipt, proof of purchase, or other documentation showing how you obtained the product.
VI HP does not accept assistive devices that have been loaned or prescribed as a loan by a municipality, region, health center, hospital, or assistive device center. A borrowed assistive device belongs to the organization that issued it and must be returned when no longer needed.
If you are unsure who owns the assistive device, you should check the product's marking and contact your prescriber, municipality, or region before sending the form to VI HP.

If the product does not match the form, pictures, or information provided by the seller, the purchase will be stopped.

Rules for selling used assistive devices also cover what happens if the product is rejected after receipt.

The seller is responsible for return and collection costs when the product does not match the information or images provided.

VI HP may require:

Payment for a product sold by an estate is only made to an account belonging to the estate.
By sending the form, the seller or donor confirms that the information is complete and correct. The seller also assures that the product is not stolen, borrowed, rented, leased, prescribed, or owned by a municipality, region, healthcare provider, assistive device center, or other organization.
VI HP may require valid identification and a physical signature before the sale or donation is finalized.
