Purchase with requisition for free choice of assistive devices

Purchase with a requisition

Purchasing with a requisition makes it possible for you, if you have received a requisition within the scope of Free Choice of Assistive Devices, to choose and purchase an assistive device yourself that matches your assessed needs. At VI HP, you can choose from our products and place your order directly on vihp.se.

VI HP currently only accepts requisitions issued within Region Stockholm.

If you do not yet have a requisition, you should start by contacting healthcare for a needs assessment. If you have already received a requisition, you can choose the right assistive device and follow the order guide further down the page.

How purchasing with a requisition works

Free Choice of Assistive Devices is an alternative to standard prescription for certain assistive devices. With standard prescription, you usually borrow the assistive device. With Free Choice, you instead receive a requisition for a specific amount and the opportunity to purchase an assistive device yourself that matches the needs assessed by the prescriber.

You and your prescriber will together determine if Free Choice is appropriate. This option is available for certain assistive devices in areas such as mobility and vision.

The requisition specifies the type of assistive device you can purchase and the requisition amount that applies. Therefore, it does not function as a gift card that can be used for any products.

When you make a purchase with a requisition, the assistive device becomes your property. This differs from a standard prescription where the assistive device is usually borrowed.

How to obtain a requisition

You cannot order a requisition from VI HP. The first step is to have your needs assessed by a prescriber.

If this is the first time you need a mobility aid, you can contact a primary care rehabilitation clinic. Occupational therapists and physiotherapists, among others, work there with the assessment, fitting, and prescription of assistive devices. In Stockholm County, primary care rehabilitation can be contacted directly without a referral.

You can also contact your local health centre or the municipal healthcare services for assistance in finding the right facility. If you have previous contact with a specialist clinic for your assistive device, you can turn to them. If you live in an elderly care home, you can start by speaking with the nurse, occupational therapist, or physiotherapist at the home.

During the assessment, the prescriber reviews the difficulties you experience in daily life and what support an assistive device can provide. Then, the appropriate type of assistive device for your needs and whether Free Choice can be used is determined.

If Free Choice is applicable, you will receive a requisition. Once it is issued, you can proceed with purchasing with a requisition from a supplier who can handle it. Read more about Free Choice of Assistive Devices on Vårdgivarguiden.

Who can issue a requisition

A requisition is issued by a prescriber who is authorized within the area of assistive devices relevant to your needs.

A prescriber can, for example, be an occupational therapist, physiotherapist, speech therapist, audiologist, vision educator, or nurse. The relevant professional group depends on the assistive device and the individual needs assessment.

For mobility aids, occupational therapists and physiotherapists are common prescribers. For certain assistive devices, other licensed professional groups may also have prescribing rights.

The prescriber is responsible for the needs assessment and the decision on which assistive device may be appropriate. VI HP does not issue requisitions or make medical assessments.

Assistive devices and requisition amount

Region Stockholm publishes a list of which mobility aids are covered by Free Choice and the applicable requisition amount.

The document includes the name of the assistive device, ISO code, and requisition amount. It covers, among other things, bathing aids, toilet raisers, walking aids, rollators, transfer aids, ramps, and several other product groups. The list also includes special assistive devices for children.

You can read the current list here.

Choose the right product for purchase with requisition

Once you have received the requisition, you can start choosing an assistive device on vihp.se. Always refer to the type of assistive device stated on the requisition.

For example, if the requisition is for an indoor rollator, you should choose a rollator that can be used indoors. You cannot choose a model intended only for outdoor use.

However, a combined rollator for both indoor and outdoor use can be chosen if it also fulfills the requirements for indoor use.

The region's current list distinguishes between indoor and outdoor rollators. Both have ISO code 120606 but different requisition amounts.

The same principle applies to other assistive devices. If the requisition is for a bath board, you choose a bath board. If it's for a shower stool, you choose a product that corresponds to that type of assistive device.

You can choose between different models that fit the requisition. This allows you to consider, for example, design, functions, and your own preferences while ensuring the assistive device meets the assessed need.

If you want to make a purchase with a requisition but are unsure which of our products is suitable, please contact us before ordering.

Price and requisition amount

The requisition specifies a fixed amount for the assistive device.

If the product you choose costs more than the requisition amount, you can pay the remaining sum yourself. This means you can choose a more expensive model as long as it still corresponds to the type of assistive device on the requisition.

If the product costs less, the actual price is used. Any remaining amount cannot be used for other products because the requisition applies to a specific assistive device.

You do not need to split the payment between the requisition and another payment method at checkout. VI HP handles any remaining sum after the requisition has been checked.

How to purchase with a requisition on vihp.se

Orders are placed directly on our website and largely function like a regular online purchase. The main difference is the payment option you choose at checkout. Here you can visit our webshop to see our range and choose the assistive device that suits your requisition.

Step 1 Choose the right product

Open the product that matches your requisition. Check the model, size, and any options available on the product page.

Then, add the product to your cart and proceed to checkout.

Step 2 Fill in your details

At checkout, fill in your name, address, postcode, city, phone number, and email address.

Please provide a phone number where we can reach you, as we will use it to contact you to request the requisition.

Step 3 Choose delivery method

Choose the delivery method that suits you from the options shown at checkout.

At the same time, ensure that the delivery address is correct.

Image 1 below shows the part of the checkout where you fill in your details and choose the delivery method.

Fill in your contact information and choose your preferred delivery method before proceeding with the order.

Step 4 Check your order

Check that the correct product and quantity are in the order.

Also review the order amount and delivery information before proceeding.

Step 5 Select this option “Not for private individuals Invoice”

For purchases with a requisition, you should choose the payment option Not for private individuals Invoice.

Do not choose Card and do not choose Klarna.

In Image 2 below, you can see where the option is located in the checkout.

Step 6 Write that you have a requisition

In the field "Any message to us (optional)", write:

I have a requisition from Region Stockholm

You do not need to send the document itself through the checkout. VI HP will contact you after the order has been registered and will then request the requisition.

Step 7 Accept the terms of purchase

Read our terms of purchase and tick the box to accept them.

Then, double-check that your contact information is correct.

Step 8 Place the order

Click on "Place order." See image 2 below.

Your order will now be sent to VI HP without the full order amount needing to be paid by card or Klarna. See image 2 below.

After the order has been placed

Once we receive the order, we will contact you via the phone number you provided at checkout to request the requisition.

We compare the information in the document with the ordered product. Once everything matches, we reserve the assistive device for your order.

If the requisition does not cover the entire order amount, VI HP will send an invoice for the remaining sum.

Once the order processing is complete, the assistive device will be shipped using the delivery method you chose at checkout.

This way, purchases with a requisition can be made on vihp.se without you having to manage the division between the requisition amount and any difference yourself. Here you can go to our webshop and see our range and choose the assistive device that suits your requisition.
